Morning came far too early for Willow but she fought her way out of the pile of limbs that was her men and they rose alongside her, yawning and stretching.

They helped her dress after rubbing salve on her back and fed her before she left to train. She told them to go back to bed if they wished since their sleep had been so interrupted.

She hadn’t advance far down the hall when she encountered the Queen, as Nera was headed to Willow’s apartments. Nera had heard the screams but declined to enter Willow’s suite during the night.

First Julian, then Cassie and Nall told her what occurred as she lingered in the hallway during the worst.

After everything that Cassandra had told her about the incident with Stayna, Nera had wished to express her respect. Willow dropped to one knee and bowed her head.

“Rise, Willow,” Nera said and when Willow stood before her Nera reached out and pulled her into a hug, having a care with her back. “Your behavior makes me proud to call you one of my warriors. Please know that I am aware the incident with Stayna was unprovoked, and she will be watched. Disloyalty to Cassandra is disloyalty to me.”

Willowed flushed as the Queen released her.

“Thank you, Your Highness. I want you to know that you and Cassie have my full loyalty.” She bowed.

“I do, Willow. Do you train this morning?”

“Yes, My Lady. I think it is best.”

“I also know what happened last night.”

Willow blushed, embarrassed.

“I am sorry, Your Highness, I will do what I can to see that it does not happen again.”

“Willow, there is no need to apologize. This happens, that is why it is good to have friends to talk to, especially when you find something upsetting. I am your friend Willow, if you ever need to talk and cannot do so with Cassandra.” There was such kindness and compassion in the Queen’s gaze that Willow had to fight tears.

“Thank you, My Lady.” Willow squeezed her hand.

“Let us go train.”

Willow arrived at the training field with the Queen at her side. At Cassie’s raised brow she just shook her head and moved to join her regiment while Nera moved to the front of the formation.
